History
In 1993, Miller Brewing Company and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) established the ¡Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund. The ¡Adelante! Fund is designed to address the educational needs of the growing Hispanic population. Program areas focus on Leadership & Career Development and Scholarships.
The ¡Adelante! Fund is a national non-profit based in San Antonio, Texas. The organization uses a
holistic approach to prepare college students for leadership roles upon entry into the workforce.
Since its designation as a 501c3 in 1997, ¡Adelante! Fund has awarded over one million dollars in scholarships to undergraduate students across the nation.
In July 2004, Latinos accounted for 14.1% of the total population, making the Latino community one of the fastest growing group in the U.S. However, fewer than 10.1% of Latinos earn an Associate's Degree and only 6.4% earn a Bachelor's degree. By the year 2025, it is estimated that Latino Americans will comprise 18.9% of the United States population. It is imperative that we do more to ensure greater numbers of Hispanics graduate from college.
